ChatGPT Business is adding a new option for teams that use AI more intensively. Premium seats offer greater usage capacity, remove the five-hour limit, and keep work within the same secure business workspace.
More capacity for the most active users
OpenAI explains that its business customers are using ChatGPT for an increasingly broad range of tasks: organizing inventories, creating marketing campaigns, analyzing business performance, improving customer service, and developing new products.
For these cases, Premium seats include five times more usage than Standard seats and do not apply the five-hour usage limit. In practice, this makes it possible to work on larger projects with fewer interruptions.
Premium usage also comes with predictable weekly resets. If a team needs even more capacity, the workspace owner can add shared credits and monitor their consumption.
The idea is simple: not every team member needs the same amount of AI, so they shouldn’t have to pay exactly the same either.
Pricing and seat combinations
Premium seats cost $125 per user per month, or $100 per user per month with annual billing. Standard seats remain priced at $25 per month, or $20 per month with annual billing.
A company can combine both types within the same workspace. For example, it could assign Premium seats to developers, analysts, or marketing managers who use ChatGPT every day, while keeping Standard seats for other collaborators.
Administrators will also be able to:
- Mix Standard and Premium seats within the same team.
- Upgrade or reassign seats as needs change.
- Monitor ChatGPT usage across the entire workspace.
- Manage payments, usage limits, and expenses from a single place.
- Keep company information within the same secure ChatGPT Business environment.
This way, the company avoids creating separate subscriptions or distributing work across disconnected accounts. What’s the result? More flexibility without adding an unnecessary layer of administration.
Promotion for early customers
For a limited time, the first 10,000 eligible ChatGPT Business customers may receive $100 in workspace credits for each Premium seat added, equivalent to 2,500 credits. The promotion allows customers to receive the benefit for up to five seats, or up to $500 in credits.
To participate, the workspace owner must join the waitlist using the email address associated with their administrator account. Some companies may also receive early access before general availability.
The promotion ends on August 20. If you are not the workspace owner, you will need to share this information with the person who manages your company’s ChatGPT Business account.
A more adaptable rate for every team
The arrival of Premium highlights an important shift in how companies consume AI tools. Instead of offering identical capacity to everyone, ChatGPT Business allows teams to assign resources according to the type of work and frequency of use.
For a small team, the decision will depend on how much value AI creates in specific tasks. A developer who uses Codex with large codebases will probably need a different level of capacity than someone who consults ChatGPT occasionally.
The question is no longer just how many people will use the tool, but how intensively each person needs it. With Premium seats, OpenAI aims to help companies answer that question without fragmenting their workspace.
